Owing to the ongoing and fluid nature of the COVID-19 situation globally,
announced activities might be postponed or cancelled at any time and
without notice.

7Q - Originally expected to QRT on 19 November, the 7Q7RU team is now
QRV until 24 November at least. QSL via Club Log'OQRS (preferred)

be active again as T46W on 26-29 November to commemorate the 100th
anniversary of the first transmissions of Manuel 'Manolin' Alvarez

CQ WW WPX CONTESTS: NEW RULES ---> A new "Multi-Transmitter Distributed"
category is being added to the CQ World Wide WPX RTTY, SSB and CW contests
to better accommodate operators who wish to compete as a team without all
being in the same physical location. The new category w ill permit up to six
separate stations in different locations to operate as a single contest
entry. All equipment, including remotely-controlled equipment, must be
located in same DXCC Entity and CQ Zone. Although inspired by innovations
being made in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, this new, stand-alone
category will be permanent. It is not intended to replace, or compete with,
other multi-operator categories.
In addition, QSO alerting systems will now be permitted in all CQ WW WPX SSB
and CW Single Operator categories, except the Single Operator Classic
Overlay categories. There will no longer be separate listings or recognition
for "Assisted" vs. "Unassisted" categories, and all Classic overlay entries
must be unassisted. This step further aligns CQ WW WPX SSB and CW contests
with CQ WW WPX RTTY, where the use of QSO alerting systems has been permit-
ted since the mid-nineties.
Also, the maximum operating time for Single Operator Classic Overlay par-
ticipants has been reduced from 36 to 24 hours.
Finally, the Multi-Operator Single Transmitter High and Low Power Classic
Overlay categories have been removed from the rules.
The rule changes take effect with the 2021 running of the WPX contests (RTTY
on 13-14 February, SSB on 27-28 March and CW on 29-30 May). These changes do
not apply to the CQ World Wide (CQWW) DX contests. The full rules for CQ WW
WPX SSB and CW 2021 will be posted on https://www.cqwpx.com/ in early 2021.

YASME EXCELLENCE AWARDS ---> In 2008 The Yasme Foundation (www.yasme.org)
established the Yasme Excellence Award, to be presented to individuals and
groups who, through their own service, creativity, effort and dedication,
have made a significant contribution to amateur radio. The contribution may
be in recognition of technical, operating or organizational achievement, as
all three are necessary for amateur radio to grow and prosper. The Yasme
Excellence Award is in the form of a cash grant and an individually-engraved
crystal globe. The latest recipients, announced on 19 November, are:
- Brett Ruiz, PJ2BR and Helena Ruiz, PJ2ZZ
Brett and Helena have been active leaders of VERONA for more than twenty
years, including technical activities, disaster preparedness and relief,
as well as training potential licensees. They act as liaisons to govern-
ment and international organizations, as well as contributing to important
events such as GAREC and IARU assemblies and meetings. Brett is also
active in pursuing long-distance VHF propagation and digital communica-
tions.
- Bob Wilson, N6TV
Yasme recognizes Bob's technical support to literally hundreds of hams
through various radio manufacturer's user groups, to logging software com-
munities, and the detailed assistance he provides to Reverse Beacon
Network hosts, keeping their equipment configured and running. Bob also
provides invaluable support to traveling hams worldwide when they most
need help. Along with being technically talented he is exceptionally
selfless in using that talent to help others, quick to encourage others in
many areas.
- Jari Perkiomaki, OH6BG
Jari has supported the online VOACAP software and website (www.voacap.com)
for almost twenty years, without compensation, making world-class HF
propagation prediction and modeling services available to any radio
amateur. He believes in team work, acknowledging the contributions and
ideas from all of the ham community for further development of the
service, but especially from James Watson (M0DNS/HZ1JW) and Juho Juopperi
(OH8GLV). He estimates that today VOACAP Online serves thousands of users,
with visits from more than 100 countries every month, including integra-
tion with the DX Summit and Club Log services. He is part of the Radio Ar-
cala, OH8X team and acts as a propagation specialist, assisting the WRTC
community, RSGB and others.
- Jim Brown K9YC
Amateurs worldwide have benefited from his extensive contributions to
amateur radio regarding ferrite materials and their use in combating RF
interference, feed line applications, and transformers. His efforts to
improve transmitter performance and operating practices are also greatly
appreciated, as are the extensive set of personal publications available
to the public and performing reviews of technical material for amateur
radio publishers.

+ SILENT KEYS + Both Mike Mills, G3TEV and Emir Mahmutovic, 9A6AA passed
away on 13 November.
Aged 87, Mike was the QSL manager for Brian, 9J2BO: "I can't thank enough
for the excellent job he did for me putting in many hours of work to ensure
that QSLs are answered as promptly as possible. We had a daily sched for
this purpose", he says. Brian asks to refrain from sending QSL cards until
further notice.
An active DXer, contestman and enthusiastic island activator, Emir was a
founding member of the Croatian Flora & Fauna Programme, and President of
the Radioklub Hrvatska Flora Fauna. In 2019 he was one of the operators of
the D68CCC DXpedition to the Comoros.

ON4UN ---> The digital farewell ceremony for John, ON4UN will be held on 21
November at 14 UTC: https://cmore.be/afscheid-john-devoldere/. For those who
wish to be present but are unable to attend, the link will be accessible for
a couple more days afterward. [TNX ON4WW]
