YASME EXCELLENCE AWARD & SUPPORTING GRANTS ---> In 2008 The Yasme Foundation
(http://www.yasme.org/) established the Yasme Excellence Award, to be
presented to individuals and groups who, through their own service,
creativity, effort and dedication, have made a significant contribution to
amateur radio. The contribution may be in recognition of technical,
operating or organizational achievement, as all three are necessary for
amateur radio to grow and prosper. The Yasme Excellence Award is in the form
of a cash grant and an individually-engraved crystal globe.
The latest recipient, announced on 1 June, is Joe Eisenberg, K0NEB, "for his
contributions to amateur radio through his kit-building seminars, as seen at
the Dayton Hamvention and other ham gatherings. He is also editor of the
Kit-Building column for CQ magazine. Joe exemplifies the 'give back' and
'self-teaching' spirit of ham radio, especially in training youngsters".
The Board of Directors of the Yasme Foundation has also made supporting
Grants to the Foundation for Amateur Radio (https://www.farweb.org/) and
ARRL scholarship programmess for 2020, as well as to the Open Research In-
stitute (https://openresearch.institute/) to enable completion of ORI's
Phase 4 Ground Project (an open source satellite ground station for the
amateur radio satellite service). [TNX K4ZW]
